"Faith grows when it is well expressed in celebration. Good celebrations foster and nourish faith. Poor celebrations may weaken and destroy it."

LECTORS

Lectors use a well trained tongue to proclaim the saving Word of God. Words that challenge, confront and comfort us. Through this ministry you open peopleís hearts to Godís Holy Word. We know God is present in the Eucharist, but God is equally present in the Word. The lector tells the story of Godís salvation for us. To join the team and receive training contact the rectory, (773) 478-1157.

EUCHARISTIC  MINISTERS

Eucharistic Ministers assist the presider with an important task when  we all come to the banquet of the Lord.  In order that all can participate at pretty much the same time, people are trained to assist the priest and deacon in distributing the sacred food and drink.  You need a sense of reverence for the body and blood of Christ in the bread and wine.  Also reverence, for the body of Christ which is within each of us, Holy Food for Holy People.  Remember that while we partake of the Body and Blood of Christ we ARE also the Body of Christ. The Eucharistic Ministers helps to make us one bread, one body. If you are interested contact the rectory, (773) 478-1157.

MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY

To be a Minister of Hospitality there is a need for you to share certain of your gifts.  You share yourself to make sure that all feel welcomed. You invite the people to sit together as community. We are not just a room full of people, but a people gathered together as one in Christ.  You ensure that strangers are welcomed and made to feel at home.  Greet people warmly and hand them a hymnal.  Care for any special needs that arise (if someone gets sick, or other emergencies), take up the collection and help with good order at communion.  When Mass is over you also say goodbye to everyone. If you are interested in this ministry contact the rectory, (773) 478-1157.
